The Season is Upon Us

The NBA season is here. A few thoughts two days into the season:

  1. Dallas looked horrible last night, and we still won. Double-overtime goodness. Steve Nash was killing us, and we couldn’t do anything to stop him. We were fortunate he got tired toward the end (thank you, Darrell Armstrong). The Mavs are going to be a little tired going into tonight’s game, but it’s against Utah. Hopefully, we can pull off a win. (As I write this, I find out that we lose to Utah tonight. Mehmet Okur killed us? What?)
  2. Michael Redd is earning that contract. He’s shooting lights out, man, and he’s getting to the foul line. It’s also good to see TJ Ford back in the mix. Bogut isn’t doing bad either, which surprises me. Can you imagine if Redd signed with the Cavs? Which brings me to my next point…
  3. LeBron James. Holy crap. He has a shot now. He hit four straight triples in under two minutes. That’s just nasty. So let me get this straight. The guy can soar through the air. He can drive to the hoop and get an easy score. He can step back and hit the jumper. He can nail the long ball. He can handle the rock. He’s known to get a few nice assists here and there. He can defend on and off the ball. The Cavs have only played one game so far, and I’m already going nuts.

This should be an interesting season. Things are so competitive. You know it’s bad when we’re considered the worst team in Texas. San Antonio is so loaded, it’s not fair. They have Finley now, among others. Some of their bench players could be starters on other teams (Well, at least token starters. Some of them are probably too old to play starter minutes). Houston got better, but McGrady is ailing, which isn’t good for them. They’ll still be tough to beat. Dallas looks like a playoff team, but no one sees them getting past the second round. Please prove them wrong.
