What’s a New Year without the annual music review, right?

John Mayer - Continuum; The Village Sessions
Don’t act like you didn’t see this one coming.

    James Morrison - Undiscovered
“I’m not lost, not lost, just undiscovered.”

    Tristan Prettyman - Twentythree
Her album technically came out in 2005, but I was a latecomer. I’ve billed her as the female Jason Mraz, but that’s probably unfair. Others liken her to a female Jack Johnson because of the surfing background. She’s really good. I’ll just leave it at that.

    The Format - Dog Problems
I actually like a combination of songs from this album and their previous one, Interventions and Lullabies. Mikey had a pretty good playlist posting about it.

Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat
I’ve posted about her already, so there’s not much else to say. The next band on the list would be a good opener.

Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s - The Dust of Retreat
I didn’t hear about these guys until late December, but I’m glad I did. You might call their music sobering, maybe even depressing, but it has a nice indie vibe to it. Hat tip: Quan.

We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor
The CD definitely has some solid hits. Plus, the Lonely Island guys do their music videos. Hat tip: Eli.

    Relient K - Apathetic EP
Another CD released late in 2005 that I didn’t start listening to until 2006. Contains some new songs and few acoustic versions of old songs.

The Spinto Band - Nice and Nicely Done
Yet another CD released in 2005. The album has four pretty solid tracks.

Chris Tomlin - See the Morning
I haven’t heard a disappointing Tomlin album yet.

If you ever take a stroll through Guilty-Pleasure Land…

    Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds
    If I wrote you a symphony…

    Teddy Geiger - Underage Thinking
    For you I will…

    Lastly, some rockin’ singles…

    Fair - Unglued
I listened to this track way more than the other songs on the album.

Watermark - Light of the World
A nice curtain call for one of the more under-the-radar duos in CCM.

    Youth Group - Forever Young
A cool remake of the Alphaville classic.

    Ingrid Michaelson - Breakable
Thank you, Grey’s Anatomy. Hat tip: Eli

Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On
She has some other good songs, but this is my favorite.

    Beyonce - Irreplaceable
Have you seen the music video? Jay-Z is one lucky dude. “To the left, to the left…”

    Matt Wertz - Everything’s Right
A nice little diddy. Hat tip: Eli

Keane - Is It Any Wonder
    What happened?

Sanctus Real - I’m Not Alright
Arguably the best off their newest album.

    Obadiah Parker - Hey Ya
I’ll say it again, one of the best cover songs, ever.

The Wreckers - The Good Kind
In case you were wondering what happened to Michelle Branch.

    Lupe Fiasco - Kick Push
A rap song about skateboarding… and it works.
