Oh No You Didn’t
Yes… Yes I did.
PAX has a section where you can check out (like at a library) board games. A great way to try before you buy. Mikey and I gave “Ninja versus Ninja” a spin.
Still on Central time, Mikey and I woke up pretty early Friday morning (7 AM Pacific). Rather than eating breakfast, we decided to take it easy and wait for Salumi.
Recommended by Quan, Salumi is a sandwich shop that’s open Tuesday through Friday, from 11 AM ’til 4 PM. Seeing as how we are flying back Monday night, we had to go today. Reading reviews on Yelp, people said to get there early, or you might not get the sandwich you want. So Mikey and I decided to get there at around 10:30.
When we got there, there were already 6-7 people in line. By the time the doors were open, there were 30+ people behind us. Crazy.
As for the food? I had the Porchetta, what Salumi called their “tribute to the pig”. Mikey got the limited-time-only Oxtail. Mikey let me have a sample; words cannot describe how freaking delicious it was. I would’ve had buyer’s remorse, but my sandwich was excellent as well. A combination of excellent meat and fresh bread hits the spot every time. Without a doubt, if and when we come back to Seattle, Salumi will be on our to-do list.
Hello Seattle. I’ve missed you.
First night spent mostly on walking around downtown. Mikey wanted pizza, and the concierge recommended a nearby place called Serious Pie. Two problems: a 45-60 minute wait, and their pizza selection was a little too posh for our liking. We settled on Coldwater, a bar and grill on the first floor of our hotel (Westin).
Turned out to be a pretty good decision. Mikey got steak and potato wedges, and I got crab meat mac and cheese. For Mikey’s potatoes, they gave him these mini ketchup bottles. Pretty neat.
The restaurant was dark, so I have crappy pictures of the ketchup bottles and our dessert selections.
Next up, Salumi and PAX Day 1.
A dining room table should be measured by how effectively you can play Settlers of Catan and its various expansions on it: its Catanability, if you will.
