It’s been forever since I’ve seen the David Crowder Band live; I forgot how phenomenal they are. Their studio recordings are great and all, but seeing them live is an even more incredible experience. Some things you catch live that you can’t get from the studio recordings:

  • All six musicians remaining tight and in sync, even while responsible for multiple instruments/gadgets per song.  This can’t be overlooked.  It’s easy to layer music in the studio, but when you’re trying to play some keys while also throwing down licks on your bass, while also providing backing vocals, you begin to appreciate how hard it is to multi-task and not mess up.
  • Crowder busted out with the keytar for one of the songs. You can never go wrong with the keytar. Even better…
  • Crowder played one of the songs with a Guitar Hero guitar. That’s right, a Guitar Hero guitar. It was basically modded into a music synthesizer, where each button played a different music interval. It was excellent.

Seeing Crowder live again was long overdue, and I’m glad I went.
