Like most uninteresting blogs, thehong.com has suffered from a lack of updates. But the blog times are a-changin’! Apparently, blog “types” have emerged based on the length and type of content provided. For example, a couple of the more recent entries on thehong.com could be considered tumblelogs (weird name, I know).
In the interest of increased brevity, micro-blogging is now all the rage, much thanks to the folks at Twitter.
These concepts certainly aren’t new; they just seem to have matured into the online services we have today. After all, as the micro-blogging wiki page mentions, isn’t the status update feature on Facebook a form of micro-blogging? And the many asides that you find on various blogs could be considered a cross between a micro-blog and a tumblelog.
I must say, blogging is tough. It’s hard to come up with good content worth reading on a regular basis. The editorial-type blog posts take time and are rare. These tumblelog and micro-blog entries are meant to fill the spaces in between, I guess.
That said, Mikey is officially on board with the Twitter revolution. This makes sense, because if you look at the history of the posts we’ve both made, Mikey’s style lends itself to micro-blogging. I tend to be the more wordy blogger between us. Anyway, his microblog can be found in the sidebar. Consider it a little more insight into half of the mastermind-duo behind thehong.com. Haha.
